The name of this tea orignated from 1831 when Twinings created a Earl Grey tea in shop on the Strand on the request of the Prime Minister. He loved it so much he gave his name to it.
The flavour profile of Earl Grey Black Tea is unique thanks to the addition of oil of bergamot, which is an oil made from cold pressed rind from the bergamot orange fruit.
